Uncle Keith and I went to see Michael Sebastian, and he is such a cutie!!! He is Rush's image! He lost a little weight, but is gaining it back. He has the longest fingers! Get him a piano right away.
He opens his eyes a lot, and looks like he is trying to focus on whoever is hold him. Grandma Connie let me hold him for a long time. I thought there would be some arm wrestling, but she released him without a struggle. He even gave us a few smiles.
Here are a few more pictures.

Michael Sebastian 1 week old :)
Here is a picture of Michael Sebastian Pressley Gomez at 1 week old. Rush says he is sorting the laundry! Good job, get him trained early :) :) Look at that swaddling, it's perfect! Connie said Rush is becoming an expert at keeping Michael cozy with his swaddling. You can see in his eyes that he is very alert.

Baby's new home
Here are a few pictures of the baby's new home. It used to be Pam and Rush's home, but as those of you with kids know, it will turn into a "kid friendly" piece of property. Pam and Rush will meld nicely into Baby Gomez's life, as he will do into their's :) He will learn to be a good deck hand, and they will learn to be a good cheering section at T-Ball and Pop Warner. It is amazing how much all of them will learn. They will have too much fun with their new addition to the family.
OK, we are dying to know Baby's name!

The Shower
3/20/2010
Pam's shower was on a beautiful day! This was her 2nd shower, one for friends and coworkers, and this one for family. Her Aunt Mary McCormick and I were the co-hosts, but Mary did most of the work. Family members included Pam's mother Connie; Rush's mother Karin; aunts Mary, DeAnn, and me; sister-in-law Jasmine; nieces Melissa and Caitlyn; cousins Danielle, Natalie, Theresa and Denise. Now here is the tricky part, are Connie's cousins, Suzanne and Monique, 1st cousins once removed or are they 2nd cousins??? The same for the cousin's children...Theresa, Danielle and Natalie brought their children. I know I am missing someone, so please forgive. Mary brought a wonderful meal of 2 kinds of pasta, chicken, 2 salads, breadsticks, and cupcakes with 3 different types of cake.
After lunch we had games organized by Pam's cousin (Mary's daughter), Danielle. She did a great job. One game was like passing on a sentence by whispering in the ear of the person next to you, but it was on paper using pictures and short sentences. The object was to see how close the original sentence was to how it ended up after being passed around the room. There were some pretty funny results!
The next game was about filling up the baby's trunk. My daughter, Denise, won this one, and she is still dreaming about it. Here is her comment from Facebook:
I'm packing baby's trunk with a dozen diapers, two dogs, a sheep, two binkies, a pair of shoes, two bottles, a ball, a rattle, a blue blanket, a bib, rubber pants, a teething ring, a stroller, changing pads, formula, pants, a breast pump, a crib, a clean onsie, pajamas, and baby powder. Huh, I still got it!
Everyone around the room added something to the trunk, and had to recite everything in the trunk in the right order!
The last game was won by Rush's mother, Karin. Now who in the world can remember all of those nursery rhymes? We had to complete the first sentence of nursery rhymes. Karin was also one of the finalist's in the baby trunk game. Hope the baby inherits her good memory!
His room will be totally decked out, and he will be strutting around town in the finest duds! Thanks to all for such nice turnout for Pam and baby.

Prep for the Shower
How exciting!!!!
There hasn't been a baby in the family for a while, and we definitely thought Pam and Rush were going to be proud parents of sweet dogs and a boat. What a surprise! Our first vision was how are they going to turn the bathtub into a crib? Their home is a 1924 Venice beach house, comfortable for 2. And then we heard:
IT'S A BOY!
We are Pam's aunts, Mary McCormick and Thetis Pressley. Connie, Pam's mom, said it would be ok to have the shower at her home since it is centrally located. Just so you know, we will probably have as much fun planning this party as we hope you will have attending.
We will be sending out invitations the week of March 1st. Pam is still researching what she will really need, and what she can live without because of the space limitations at home. For those anxious to know the details, the celebration will be:
March 20, 2010
1:00 p.m. (Lunch)
6101 Belen
Long Beach, CA 90815
RSVP to Thetis Pressley @ 951-764-4051 or pressle1@msn.com
Pam and Rush are planning a room with blues, greens, and sealife decor with a kelp forest mural on the wall. The baby will feel right at home when he goes out sailing.
Within the next 2 weeks we will post where Pam is registered. In addition to researching what she needs, she is also doing some bargin hunting. So come back to the blog for her list.
